Photo rules

Where artist photos come from, who can upload, and review codes · changes are dated here · 2026-10-03

Sources

  • Freely licensed photos from Wikidata / Wikimedia Commons (author and licence under the photo).
  • Photos uploaded by the artist's verified accounts (the artist or their agency). Once approved (P1) they take priority.
  • Otherwise, an official YouTube video thumbnail.

Who can upload

  • Only the artist's verified accounts; a verified agency can upload for all its artists. Regular accounts cannot.
  • For artists under 19 (groups with any current member under 19), only the agency (legal guardian).
  • One pending photo per artist · 5 a day · one photo only (no galleries).

What you agree to

  1. I own the copyright of this photo or have the copyright holder's permission.
  2. Only this artist (or its members) appears in the photo, and it does not infringe anyone else's likeness or privacy.
  3. I understand the permission scope above, and that the photo may be removed if any of this is untrue.

Choose one permission scope:

  • Use on gayo.wiki (default) — gayo.wiki may show this photo on this artist's page, member cards, birthday cards and search results. It is removed whenever you ask. No use by other sites is granted.
  • CC BY-SA 4.0 — Anyone may reuse it with attribution (CC BY-SA 4.0) — the licence Wikimedia Commons accepts.

Storage

  • Only a resized JPEG (800 px) and a square thumbnail on our servers (Cloudflare R2). No originals. Location and device data (EXIF) are stripped by the browser and checked again by the server.
  • Before approval only the uploader and staff can see it. Rejected, cancelled or removed photos are deleted.
  • Uploaders can remove a photo any time. Rights holders can use the rights violation report; the photo is taken down at once.

Review codes

Staff decide with one of these codes only; the result is emailed to the uploader.
